I am passionate about getting the word out about paleontology and its role in helping us frame our own evolutionary history. I strive toward helping students become broadly trained, excellent communicators of science to society. If I'd never intersected great science communicators in my own life (including teachers who paved the way for understanding, scientists who explained their complex work in plain language, and writers who helped to translate science into engaging stories), I may never have jumped into science myself! My interest in outreach was honed during a stint as the Curator of Paleontology at theScience Museum of Minnesota (2001-2007), where I learned first hand the power that well-told stories have when it comes to helping people get engaged with and excited by science.
